 Student Technical Paper Competition 2008

  

The Institute of Industrial Engineers-Greater Detroit Chapter hosted its annual Student Technical Paper Competition Saturday, January 26, 2008 at Oakland University.

 

According to IIE-GDC president Gary Altman, with more than ten IIE-GDC Board Members, competitors and guests, this year's competition had the highest attendance this annual event has seen the last four years.

 

Three of the many different aspects of Industrial Engineering were represented in this year's submissions including work design, labor/production planning and Six Sigma analysis.  The entries for the competition were...

 

      Proposed Pharmaceutical Pill Counting Tool Design - Siddharth Babbar

      Labor Requirement Calculator - Louis Mailloux

      Surgical Care Improvement Project & Pay for Performance - John Tesluk

 

The first place paper this year was...

      Surgical Care Improvement Project & Pay for Performance written and presented by John Tesluk

 

Tesluk won the first place prize of $100 presented by Gary Altman.  Babbar and Mailloux were awarded honorable mention prizes of $50 and both will be given an additional $100 for attending the upcoming regional conference where they will be submitting their papers for competition.  The Greater Detroit Chapter wishes them the best of luck.
