Program Description
The Columbus chapter started this unique idea in 2004. The two student chapters host a student night with their senior chapters. The challenge is to have a meeting at two locations (in Ann Arbor and Columbus) and see which chapter can draw most attendance. Special scoring helps to determine a winner for the event with: 7 points for a new member, 1 points for a guest, 3 point for current member.
History of the UM OSU Challenge
2004 Michigan won, 183 to 104
2005 OSU won 157 to 147
2006 OSU won 146 to 137
But overall IIE and Industrial Engineering wins - this year we had 22 new IIE members sign up between both schools!!!
The consolation of the challenge - the losing chapter presidents (senior and student chapter) had their pictures featured on all websites (senior and student: Detroit, Columbus, OSU, and U of M) wearing the opposing team's jersey. We got the student chapter president at the Regional Conference - but the Senior chapter president has eluded us so far. So Go Blue! (or Go Green! - hey this is a Michigan vs Ohio thing! we put intrastate rivalries behind us here!) Come on out and have a great evening with the students in support of IIE programs on campus - and build some bridges between the senior chapters and the student chapters.
