Sunday Afternoon Golf Outing With
the Detroit Chapter IIE |
|
The weather this year was the best in the history of the tournament - we started at Sylvan Glen Golf Course in Troy Michigan with a pleasant 83 degrees at 1pm, got a brief shower on about the 14 hole, which gave the groups a nice cool-off for their final drives into the clubhouse. Some of the players are presented below.
(Top Left) The Wasniewski foursome (left to right) with Brian O'Niel, Chris Wasniewski, Jan Wasniewksi, and Stan Wasniewski (Top Right)The Regional VP foursome with Jordan Gonsalves, Richard Hutchins, Georgette Diab, and Dr. Jayant Trewn
One of the big features this year was a Hole in One contest which gave everyone a chance for some great prizes. The Big Prize was the $10,000 on #10. No one won, but our overall champion, Brian O'Niel came within 6 ft, netting him a Senior Tournament Players hat and ball mark. We want to thank Dr. Bijay Nayak for acting as independent observer (required for our insurance policy) to oversee the $10,000 hole-in-one contest. Bijay stayed on through the back nine - coaxing our lagging teams to speed up play - and then enjoyed a cold adult beverage at the end.

Brian's overall win for overall low score was actually a tie with Richard Hutchins (Richard was overwhelming votes as Rookie of the year and most fun on the golf course). Using our tie breaker rules, Brian ended up winning. A great effort by both of these newcomers to our IIE tournament.

Our special guest this year was our Regional VP - Georgette Diab. Georgette brought a dash of excitement to the outing. We greatly appreciate her making the long drive from Cleveland to have a great afternoon of fun with the Detroit Chapter. Georgette's golfing highlight was a chip in on #9 - a great way to finish off before the turn. Being the highest ranking IIE officer, it was only right for Georgette to select our random numbers from the phone book (pictured below left).
The winner of the Random Score drawing was Dr. Jayant Trewn. Above right, Jayant is presented his prize by Bijay Nayak. Of course after the serious matters of the random score drawing, Georgette relaxed with a cigar, complements of the Detroit Chapter.
As great as this year's tournament, prizes, and cameraderie was, we expect next year to be even better. Maybe we'll even have a $10,000 winner next year.
If you have recommendations, improvements, or suggestions for next year's tournament, please let us know (Contact Vito Wasniewski at vitowas@infonetics.net). We want to make next year's tournament, bigger and better for everyone to benefit. Thanks to all tournament attendees for supporting our important cause (Irv Otis Scholarship) and to our observer Bijay for ensuring fair and balanced play.
