Jayant Trewn elected President of Detroit

Institute of Industrial Engineers

 

Jayant S. Trewn is elected as President of the Greater Detroit Chapter of the Institute of Industrial Engineers for 2004.  Mr. Trewn resides in Grosse Pointe Park and works in Royal Oak, Michigan.

 

When asked about his goals as chapter president, Jayant replied:

 

“I would like to focus on providing the membership an opportunity to experience cutting edge Industrial Engineering tools, techniques and concepts through a mix of programs like plant tours, symposiums, invited speaker series and workshops.  I would also like to get more involvement from leading businesses from various industries by having them co-sponsor these programs.  I also want to involve Industrial Engineers in providing assistance in community affairs projects that benefit non-profit organizations and to provide and umbrella to Metro-Detroit area schools to promote the benefits of entering into the field of Industrial Engineering.”

 

Jayant Trewn has over 25 years of Industrial Engineering and Academic Research experience with Beaumont Hospitals, Lason Systems and Wayne State University in Michigan and Larsen & Toubro Ltd. In Bombay, India. 

 

Jayant joined Beaumont Hospitals in 2003 in Management Engineering at the Royal Oak campus.  He researches and develops Industrial Engineering techniques to improve hospital operations.

 

Jayant Trewn holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from Madras University, India and an MBA in Information Systems and Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Wayne State University.  He is an ASQ certified Six Sigma Black Belt and Reliability Engineer and a Senior member of ASQ.
