President's Message – February 2007

Greater Detroit Chapter of IIE #47

Hello IIE Members & IE Practitioners,

I hope this message finds you in warm surroundings.  We just received a real serious blast of the winter we thought forgot about us but it reminded us that the cold snowy February weather in the Michigan and Ohio area has returned.  Your local Greater Detroit Chapter Board of Directors has returned as well to give members great opportunities to learn and be exposed to current tools and techniques that can give your career a real punch as well.  Please take the time to visit the Greater Detroit Chapter website for the latest news of the programs that your board of directors has planned for this year.  Our chapter also continues to value the close association it has with other professional organizations who also like to share the knowledge and opportunities of very interesting speakers and programs that strengthen everyone’s skills.  Please pay special attention to those professional organizations that are listed at the Greater Detroit Chapter website for program details.  We also need to encourage all members to invite their colleagues to join the Greater Detroit Chapter so that we can benefit from their professional experiences and input to make our chapter even stronger.  Reaching out to other potential members is a task that all of us should feel good about doing to build the synergy of a well connected professional engineering chapter.  There are lots of talented industrial engineers working in and around the Detroit area who can add real value to our collective knowledge base as a chapter.  Please join me in asking other engineers to be a member in our chapter so that they too can experience the value of being well connected for learning and career growth opportunities.

Another way of reaching out is to get involved with our community by showing how our skills and experience can provide help to others less fortunate.  Check out the chapter website for our Community Involvement day that we have on our programs listing for the month of May 07.  If you want to have the greatest feeling of giving back to those in need and helping to rebuild the community in its rebirth please plan to join me and other members at our Community Involvement day activities.  We can rally at Honest John’s Bar and Grill one block away in the Cass Corridor to cool our thirst and reach out to some great food and music at the old juke box.  Spring is just around the corner so get those fellow engineers signed up with the chapter and get them to join us for some great experiences and community involvement that delivers a powerful gratification to the soul.

Best Regards,

Victor Lloyd
