| Distinguished Service Award |
| The Detroit Chapter of IIE annually offers the Distinguished Service Award to a worthy Detroit Chapter member. The competition is performed during the 4th Quarter of each calendar year, and the winner is announced and presented their award during Engineers week in February of the following year.
OBJECTIVE: The Distinguished Service award is intended to recognize those that have provided long term service to the Detroit Chapter and the Industrial Engineering profession.
ELIGIBILITY: A current chapter member is nominated by current Detroit Chapter Board Member. The Detroit Chapter Board of Directors will review nominees and select an annual winner during the 4th quarter of the calendar year. Chapter members can nominate an individual through a Detroit Chapter Board Member
CONSIDERATIONS: The Distinguished Award nominee will provide support to the Detroit Chapter over a period of several years. This may include holding officer positions, managing programs in the community to raise the awareness of Industrial Engineers, or working with national IE organizations.

| The Detroit Chapter of the Institute of Industrial Engineers presents W.J. "Vito" Wasniewski with the Distinguished Service Award. Vito has contributed to the local IIE chapter since 1981 holding many different positions including President. He currently is the VP of Finance and coordinates the Detroit Chapter IIE web site. Vito has also held an Executive Position with IIE when he was Regional Vice President in 2004 and 2005.
He is currently Vice President of Consulting with INFOnetics, Inc. Infonetics uses a customized Rapid Deployment © methodology to apply workflow and “voice of the customer” to developing superior solutions – faster.
He holds an MSE in Industrial Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan and a BSE in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Michigan - Dearborn.

| 2006 - Dr. Bijay Nayak |
| The Detroit Chapter of the Institute of Industrial Engineers presents Dr. Bijay Nayakwith the Distinguished Service Award. Dr Nayak has contributed to the local IIE chapter since 1996 holding many different positions including President. He currently is the Past President and provides assistance to the Chapter Development and Membership VP's.
He is currently Director of Quality Assurance with American Axle (AAS). He holds an MSE and Phd Industrial Engineering.

| 2004 - Gregory J. Andrysiak |
| The Detroit Chapter of the Institute of Industrial Engineers presents Greg Andrysiak with the Distinguished Service Award. Greg has contributed to the local IIE chapter since 1992 holding many different positions including President. He currently is the VP Advertising and coordinates the Career Corner for both the newsletter and the web site.
He is currently working at TRW Automotive as an Advanced Sourcing Engineer for global purchasing. He is conducting workshops and projects world wide to help suppliers with cost reduction and value improvement.
Greg has Bachelor degree in Industrial Engineering Technology from Purdue. He is currently seeking certification as Certified Value Specialist and is a 6 sigma Black Belt.

| 2002 - Munna Kachhal |
| The Detroit Chapter of the Institute of Industrial Engineers presents Dr. S.K. Kachhal with its Distinguished Service Award. The Distinguished Service Award is given to members of the Detroit chapter that have demonstrated exceptional service to IIE, the Detroit Chapter, and the Industrial Engineering profession over a period of many years.
This years award winner has fulfilled all of these requirements with demonstrated service in each area. S. K. (Munna) Kachhal, Ph.D., is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. Munna has been at the university for 29 years, the last 19 years as the Chair of the department.
He holds a master's degree in Industrial Engineering and a Ph.D. in Operations Research, both from the University of Minnesota. His undergraduate degree is in Mechanical Engineering from India. He has over fifty publications on topics related to applications of Industrial Engineering to healthcare systems. He is recognized by his peers as a key contributor to the professions as a fellow with the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE).
Munna is also a Senior Member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society. He has served in several positions at national and local level in IIE. He was Vice President, Region VI-Chapter Operations Board of IIE from 1994 to 1996, President of the Detroit Chapter of IIE in 1986-1987, and a member of the Board of Directors of Detroit Chapter from 1987 to 1997. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Society for Health Systems of the IIE.
He is a past recipient of the Distinguished Faculty Award from the Michigan Association of Governing Boards for Higher Education, State of Michigan and the Distinguished Teaching Award from the University of Michigan-Dearborn.

| 2001 - Rich Anderson |
| The Detroit Chapter of the Institute of Industrial Engineers is pleased to present the Distinguished Service Award for 2000 to Richard Anderson. A long-time member of the Detroit Chapter Board, Rich has served as Treasurer, Program Chair, and was President in 1984-85. He also planned and coordinated plant tours for the national IIE Conference in 1991.
Rich has worked for Chrysler Corporation in data processing at Mopar Parts Division for 22 years.

| 2000 - Richard Krasnow |
| The Detroit Chapter of the Institute of Industrial Engineers presents Richard Krasnow with its Distinguished Service Award. The Distinguished Service Award is given to members of the Detroit chapter that have demonstrated exceptional service to IIE, the Detroit Chapter, and the Industrial Engineering profession over a period of many years. This year's award winner has fulfilled all of these requirements with demonstrated service in each area.
During his 21 years with the Detroit Chapter, Dick has served in several capacities including officer positions, programming chairman, liaison with the student chapters and as the chapter representative to the Affiliate Council of the ESD. As a member of ESD's Affiliate Council, he served as Treasurer and Vice Chairman for many years.
Richard retired from Chrysler (now Daimler-Chrysler) after 25 years in Industrial Engineering management in assembly plants, foundries and the Corporate Manufacturing Staff. After leaving Chrysler, he worked with prestigious national consulting firms as a consultant in both domestic and foreign manufacturing operations. In 1989 he launched his own engineering consulting practice, continuing until his second retirement in 1998.
Dick was also an Instructor in the Wayne State University evening Management program. Richard Krasnow earned his Bachelor of Engineering Degree from the University of Southern California and a Masters Degree in Industrial Engineering from Wayne State University.

| 1999 - Irv Otis |
| The Detroit Chapter of the Institute of Industrial Engineers is presenting Irvin Otis with the Distinguished Service Award. After Irv’s long tenure with many positions within the Institute and the local chapter, the Detroit Chapter honored Irv Otis by offering a college scholarship in his name. When the Chapter had officers transfer out of town, Irv accepted the Chapter’s call to come back and lead the Chapter as President. Under Irv’s leadership and many contacts within the Industry, the Chapter has provided the Detroit area with great programs for its membership.
Irv is the founder of the Industrial Engineering Institute of Research and Technology. He has been recipient of Fellow Awards and public recognition by three professional societies. He has written and published many papers on various industrial management subjects and is the author of two textbooks.
Irv Otis has served as Adjunct Professor at University of Michigan - Dearborn, Wayne State University, University of Detroit, and is currently an instructor for Central Michigan University and Wayne State University. Irv also consults for the Big 3, Renault, and American Axle. Irv has retired with 28 years of management in industrial engineering at Chrysler, American Motors/ Renault Staff and Toledo Jeep Factory, Chrysler and Ford.
His background includes knowledge gained from may visits to Japan, Europe and numerous plants throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. Irvin Otis received his Masters Degree in Business Management from the University of Detroit and his B.A. Degree in Industrial Management from Yankton College, South Dakota. |
| 1998 - Ron Brzuch |
| The Detroit Chapter of the Institute of Industrial Engineers is presenting Ron Brzuch with the Distinguished Service Award. Mr. Brzuch has held many positions in the Detroit Chapter, including: Chapter President, Executive Vice President, Programs Vice President, Development Vice President, Administration Vice President, Publicity Chairperson, as well as serving on the Board of Directors.
Ron Brzuch has also demonstrated outstanding leadership through efforts with community affairs projects. Community affairs projects serve non-profit institutions in our local area. Two of these projects have won awards from IIE in international competition: The top international award and a multi-state regional award. He has assisted with IIE’s International conferences, obtaining corporate donations, setting up plant tours and obtaining proclamation letters from the U.S. President, State Governor, and City Mayor. He has organized a Detroit Chapter IIE conference. He has provided positive public awareness and recognition of our local Industrial Engineer’s honors and activities through numerous news releases to magazines and local newspapers.
For this dedication and service, the Detroit Chapter of the Institute of Industrial Engineers, is proud to present this award to Ron Brzuch. Ron Brzuch is in Value Management Cost Estimating at Ford. His previous experience is with Lectron Products, TRW, Williams International, Northern Telecom, Eaton Corporation and Advanced Technology and Testing. He has a BSEE from Lawrence Technological University and a Masters in Business Management from Central Michigan University.

| The Detroit Chapter of the Institute of Industrial Engineers presents Jayne Harris with its Distinguished Service Award. The Distinguished Service Award is given to members of the Detroit chapter that have demonstrated exceptional service to IIE, the Detroit Chapter, and the Industrial Engineering profession over a period of many years. This year's award winner has fulfilled all of these requirements with demonstrated service in each area.
Ms. Harris has held almost every post that the Detroit Chapter has, which includes: Chapter President, Executive Vice President, Programs Vice President, Communications Vice President, Development Vice President, Administration Vice President, as well as serving on the Board of Directors. Jayne Harris was presented with the Distinguished Service Award at the Engineering Society of Detroit (ESD) Annual Gold Award Banquet during Engineer's Week in February 1997.
Ms. Harris has also demonstrated outstanding leadership through her efforts with community affairs projects. While she was the Chapter’s National Engineers Chairperson, she assisted the Jefferson Whittier School in Pontiac. In addition to her Industrial Engineering responsibilities at General Motors, she has enhanced the Industrial Engineering profession through her assistance with IIE’s International conferences, Detroit Chapter conferences and through technical papers and talks. Through Jayne’s involvement with the Detroit Chapter we won the National Newsletter Platinum Award and the International IIE Chapter Gold Award. For this dedication and service, the Detroit Chapter of the Institute of Industrial Engineers, is proud to present this award to Jayne Harris.
