The Detroit Chapter of IIE annually offers the Irv Otis Scholarship Award to a worthy Detroit Chapter member.
The scholarship is offered to any student chapter member - of student chapters that the Detroit Chapter supports (at this time that includes Wayne State, UM-Dearborn, UM Ann Arbor, Oakland University, Kettering University) Up to one student from each school may be selected to win the scholarship each year.
Requirements: The scholarship candidate must show that he is dedicated to the Industrial Engineering profession and IIE. Being involved in programs with their school and promoting the discipline of IE are excellent examples. Being involved in the leadership of their local IIE chapter is also an excellent demonstration of what is required of a successful candidate.
Each school's Student Chapter Faculty Advisor submits a worthy candidate from their school on or before November 1 to the Detroit Chapter President. The Faculty Advisor can use any process to determine who the candidate from their school will be. The Detroit Chapter Board of Directors will identify scholarship recipients by the end of the calendar year (December 31)
