George Louden won the $100 prize (presented by Victor Lloyd) and the Detroit Chapter wishes him the best of luck in Regional Competition with the paper.

Order of the Engineer:
The Order was initiated in the United States in 1970 to foster a spirit of pride and responsibility in the engineering profession and to present to the public a visible symbol identifying the engineer. Those vowing to uphold the “Obligation of the Engineer” receive a ring as a symbol of their pledge. The Order is not a membership organization; there are never any meetings to attend or dues to pay. Family and friends are invited to take part in this celebration. Any engineer who has graduated from an ABET-accredited engineering program or holds a PE license is eligible.

IIE Detroit Chapter 2007 Distinguished Service Award
The IIE Detroit Chapter will be recognizing its 2007 Distinguished Service Award winner W. J. "Vito" Wasniewski at the Gold Award Dinner. The Distinguished Service Award is presented to a member identified by the Detroit Chapter Board of Directors that has delivered several years of service to the Detroit Chapter of IIE.

The IIE Detroit Chapter will be recognizing its 2007 Irv Otis Scholarship Winners. Each year the Detroit Chapter identifies worthy IE students that demonstrate the spirit of IE and support the growth and development of IIE on their campus and with the senior chapter. This year the Detroit chapter will recognize its winner, George Louden- WSU

TRIZ Presentation

Presentation of "TRIZ - Theory of Inventive Problem Solving" When: Wednesday - February 28, 2007 6:00 PM Registration, and 6:30PM Dinner and Program - Where: Juliano's Restaurant, 27380 Van Dyke, Warren, MI (586) 754-8383 ¼ Mile North of I-696 (or 11 Mile Road, Exit #23), 4 ½ Miles East of I-75 (Exit #61). The biographies for the speakers, John Borza and Rick Gour, follows: John Borza is currently the Director of Value Engineering at TRW Automotive. He joined TRW in 1976, and has held a variety of engineering positions in the Steering & Suspension Division, including Director of Value Engineering, Steering & Suspension, Global Engineering Director for Rack & Pinion Steering; Director of Steering Systems and Applications Engineering; Chief Engineer, Steering Systems; and Manager, R&D. John holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Michigan. He holds a Professional Engineer License from the State of Michigan, is a Pretium certified TRIZ Master Black Belt, a SAVE International certified Associate Value Specialist and President of the Greater Michigan Chapter of SAVE International. Rick Gour graduated Cum Laude from Weber State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. Rick began his career as an Industrial Engineer with Morton Thiokol, and continued his Aerospace experience with Hughes Aircraft Company as a Manufacturing Engineer and Program Manager. He has held positions of increasing responsibility, working on a variety of projects in the Aerospace and Automotive industries. Rick is currently Manager of Value Engineering for TRW Automotive, where he is focusing on implementing Value Engineering on future products. Rick is a Six Sigma Black Belt, a Pretium Certified TRIZ Master Black Belt, a SAVE International certified Associate Value Specialist, and Director of Communications for the Greater Michigan Chapter of SAVE International.
